The New Zealand Trade Minister Hon. Tim Groser announced last month that Indonesia has completed its required domestic procedures to allow the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand FTA (AANZFTA) to enter into force.

This means that from 10 January 2012 New Zealand exporters will be granted preferential access to the world’s fourth largest population. By 2015 New Zealand exporters will receive tariff free treatment on more than 90 percent of goods, compared with only 11 percent currently.

Nada Young, Asia Market Manager at Incite comments, “buyers we work with in Indonesia regularly reaffirm the opportunities that exist for New Zealand exporters in this market. Under AANZFTA we can gain an upper hand on our competition as a result of the preferential access this FTA grants our exporters”.

"We congratulate the New Zealand Government on the tremendous work it has undertaken in partnership with Indonesia to enter this FTA into force."
